Lockyer District High School's eSports program provides students with opportunities to compete, develop new skills and represent the school through organised competitive gaming.
The program welcomes students from across the school and promotes teamwork, communication, strategic thinking, resilience and responsible digital participation. Students train with their teams, develop game-specific strategies and participate in both online and face-to-face competitions against schools from across Queensland and Australia.
Students regularly compete in games including:
- Rocket League
- Minecraft Education
- Brawlhalla
- EA Sports FC
- League of Legends
- Farming Simulator
- Gran Turismo and Sim Racing
- Chess
Competitions include the Queensland eSports Cup, the National High School League and other school-based and community eSports events. Students may also participate in internal competitions, development sessions and special events throughout the year.
Competing at the EKKA
Each year, selected students have the opportunity to represent Lockyer District High School at the Royal Queensland Show, commonly known as the EKKA.
Students travel to the EKKA to compete in live eSports tournaments against teams from other Queensland schools. The event gives students the experience of competing in a major public venue, following tournament schedules, communicating under pressure and demonstrating positive sportsmanship.
Lockyer students have achieved strong results at the EKKA across Rocket League, Minecraft, Brawlhalla, EA Sports FC, Farming Simulator, League of Legends and Sim Racing.
Our Achievements
Lockyer District High School has developed one of Queensland's most successful school eSports programs. Recent achievements include:
- 2026 Queensland eSports Cup Overall School Champions, successfully defending the title for a second consecutive year.
- 2025 Queensland eSports Cup Overall School Champions, with outstanding performances across multiple competitions.
- 2025 National High School League Rocket League Division 1 National Champions.
- 2025 National High School League Rocket League Division 3 National Champions.
- Multiple medal and finals appearances at the 2024 and 2025 EKKA eSports competitions, including a Brawlhalla State Championship and podium finishes in Rocket League, EA Sports FC, Brawlhalla and Farming Simulator.
- Strong results in Minecraft Education, Chess, Sim Racing and League of Legends competitions.
These achievements reflect the commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship demonstrated by our students and supporting staff.
Joining the Program
Students interested in joining the eSports program must consistently meet Lockyer District High School's expectations for attendance, behaviour, effort, uniform and respectful conduct.
Participation in the program and selection for representative teams are privileges. Students must demonstrate positive sportsmanship, responsible technology use, commitment to their team and the ability to represent the school appropriately.
All participants need to have met the school's expectations regarding school fees and either have paid these in full or be on a payment plan making regular contributions.
A participation fee applies to assist with costs associated with competitions, equipment, venue access and program operation. Additional costs may apply for selected excursions or major events, with information provided to families before participation.
