The school farm is an educational centre that proudly boasts horticultural areas, grazing paddocks for the school's stud cattle, a large aquaponics and hydroponics set-up, fodder machines and a poultry shed.

The LDHS farm is home to 'Loc-Hi Lowlines', an Australian Lowline stud of 20 breeding animals.   The animals are bred using foundation bloodlines from the schools past cattle, bringing in a new bull every 2 years.

The Cattle Show Team travels to many different shows in the South East and Darling Downs region every year. The team is highly successful in their stud cattle showing, frequently taking out Champion and Grand Champion ribbons.   The students are involved in the everyday management of the stud animals from feeding, vaccinating, tagging and tattooing to show preparation.  Our students are regularly commended by the public on their presentation and maturity.

Students also have the opportunity to compete in Junior Handling and Judging competitions which help expand their knowledge of the cattle industry further as well as Prime Lamb judging competitions.

A new competition that started in 2015 for the Cattle Show Team is the 'Young Farmers Challenge' which involves an obstacle course of agricultural activities.  Our students have won every competition they have entered and also represented the school at the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka).

The future of the Cattle Show Team remains with the Australian Lowline animals as well as branching into the Led Steer competition at shows.
