Welcome to Lockyer District High School (LDHS). We are a secondary school that provides a holistic education for the Lockyer Valley. After significant school and community consultation, the school became one of only 250 Independent Public Schools, statewide. This wonderful affirmation of our academic and community record sees us identified as a “high potential school".
Academically, Lockyer District High School provides students with a well-balanced curriculum, and the wide range of subjects cater for the diversity of students' abilities, interests and career aspirations. Our academic record is the envy of other state and non-state schools in the Lockyer Valley. Students have the opportunity to engage in a full range of learning opportunities from extended learning for our more capable students, to learning support for students who require extra help, including an Inclusive Education Program supports the needs of students with disabilities.
The curriculum is organised around broad-based programs within Junior Secondary in Years 7, 8, and 9. We are fortunate to be able to offer a comprehensive Senior Secondary program in Year 10 with 25 subjects, and across Years 11 and 12 with 45+ subjects catering for academic, practical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificate courses. The school is fortunate to be registered through the QCAA with ASQA to provide a wide range of nationally recognised Certificate I, Certificate II and Certificate III courses.
Positive student achievements remain central to our teaching and learning practices. There is a very strong and successful tradition of sporting, cultural and creative student involvement. The breadth of activities for the students to be involved in has increased year after year to not only include local and regional but state and international opportunities. The sporting program offers students a diverse range of opportunities, including timetabled rugby league classes, lunchtime sporting activities, interschool competitions, gala days across a variety of sports, school teams in basketball, netball, touch football, futsal, soccer and volleyball, as well as representative pathways, sporting tours and national school sporting competitions.
The school offers an instrumental music program supported by an impressive array of musical instruments. The students are supported to be part of opportunities such as Creative Generation, Art Exhibitions and Dance Troupe.
We have high expectations for all of our students. Continuous student improvement is supported with dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff who make a positive contribution to the lives of our students. To help achieve this, a strong supportive environment nurtures individual potential and assists students when personal difficulties arise. Our Wellbeing Team includes: Heads of Year, Year Coordinators, Lead Teachers, Guidance Officers, Chaplain, School-based Nurse, Social Worker, and Youth Support Co-ordinator. We have the District Link and Launch Coordinator based at our school to support students navigate the transition from schooling at the end of year 12. To further support our students learning, we introduced a Flexible Learning Space. The FlexiSpace program further caters for the learning needs for invited students in Year 8 and 9. In 2026 Lockyer District High School implemented an Enrichment Program for invited Year 7s to extend their learning.

Our vision is for students to be working together, to ensure that every day in every classroom, students are learning and achieving, becoming enterprising, resilient, creative, adaptable and confident.
