Rugby League – Lockyer High 2017

Lockyer and District State High will once again have a strong presence on the rugby league field in 2017. After building a strong base of players over the last two seasons and the introduction of a specialised rugby league class in grade 11, things are looking promising for the 2017 season.

The year 11 specialised Rugby League class will see students participate in range of theory and practical classes all based around league. On completion of grade 12 students will have obtained their level 1 coaching, refereeing, league safe and first aid certificates.

The school will field 5 teams in 2017; yr 7/8 boys, yr 9/10 boys, Open boys, Junior girls and Senior Girls. This makes league the largest organised sport within the school. Training will be conducted after school with students rotating between weights, conditioning and skills.

The school will participate in a range of different competitions including the Broncos Challenge, Darling Downs Open Schoolboy competition, Karen Murphy Cup and a range of Gala days.
