The 2014 LDHS Swimming Carnival

28/02/2014

As it has been every year at Lockyer District High School, the annual swimming carnival was an astounding success. The carnival consisted of competitive races for the more athletically inclined and a combination of novelty races for the students who just want to have some fun.

In any carnival, one cannot forget competition, and this year Manning house stormed through to win the carnival on the day. A huge congratulations should go out to house captains, Casey-Lee Groskopf, Cody Crowley, Peter Thode and Mitch Jones, who did their best to keep up enthusiasm and effort during the day. A tremendous level of participation led to Manning placing first.

Congratulations to the other three houses, Kenny, Griffith and Cunningham, who also worked hard to make the day as great as it was.

For those more casual participants there were also the novelty events.  These were entertaining to watch, as well as an opportunity for all grades to get in on the fun.  Another chance for students to earn points for their team was the house swim, which was the last event for the day.

A sausage sizzle is always a big part of the carnival, with SRC students helping out through the day.  As always the BBQ was much appreciated by the students and staff, and thanks needs to go to Miss Murray for all her hard work in preparing and organising the SRC for this event.

The swimming carnival was a great day for both students and teachers, and we hope that we will have the same participation and enthusiasm next year.
