This week, students from 8A showcased 15 pieces of recycled artwork to 140 delegates from universities throughout Australia and New Zealand. Students were invited to create sustainable table centres for the 2016 Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) conference and awards ceremony, which this year is being held on the Sunshine Coast. ACTS is a non-profit organisation that aims to inspire, promote and support change towards sustainability within the operations, curriculum and research.

The students were given the brief of creating beautiful table centres that visually represent the ethos of sustainability, using waste and/or recycled materials. Students collected materials from their homes that have been used to create representations of animals found in our water systems from the “River to Reef”.

The students have thoroughly enjoyed planning and creating their pieces and have enjoyed learning about the principles of sustainability throughout their BBA classes. Well done to the class who have promoted our school to the tertiary education community.
