PRINCIPAL'S VOICE NOVEMBER 2016

9/11/2016

Welcome to the November edition of Lockyerlife for 2016.  Thank you for taking the time to read this edition, as we believe that our newsletter forms an important part of home/school communication.

Our Sports, Cultural and Academic Awards Nights have been and gone. They are a key feature of school activities in the past weeks. These very important functions are integral at showing our community how completely wonderful our students are. We have a broad core of high performing students who inspire all of us to achieve and improve. We have a big majority of students who are doing their best. All can see their improvement through report cards, classroom feedback, assessment results and impressive participation in co-curricular activities that make Lockyer an exciting place to learn. These awards nights highlight the participation, excellence and leadership shown by many of our students. We are very proud of all of our award winners and all of our students. Congratulations to all award recipients and thanks to sponsors who contribute to recognising our students in the community

P&C wrapped up for the year, this week. I would like to thank the wonderful members and the Executive for their relentless dedication to the school. The major project for the year was the construction of an outdoor classroom attached to the Multipurpose Courts. This facility seats around 200 students and is a great addition to the school. Once again the P&C, who raise funds solely from the Canteen, have provisioned the school with something that will last for years, and helps students to learn every day. It is a great learning space.

It is important that in the final weeks of the left of the school year that all students are preparing for their final assessment items for the year. It is critical that students are coming to school prepared for learning with all necessary equipment. Students should be preparing for assessment at school and at home. The most fundamental aspect of success is attendance. It is impossible to learn and improve as a school student if they are not in the classroom. Having 100% attendance for the rest of the year is fundamental to maximising learning. Please make sure your student attends every day (unless they are sick).

Our school is a high performing learning place. Through our broad curriculum, dedicated teachers, worthwhile extra-curricular program and good facilities, caring and supportive outlook, we provide outstanding opportunities for students to be at their best. To this end, this is the last chance for me to thank our School Captains for their outstanding leadership this year. Annalyce, Jeff, Monique and Mitchell have represented our entire school, their families and their community with complete distinction and great pride. They have been outstanding all year.

I remain very proud of all of the students and staff at Lockyer. Together, we have a good school, the school of choice in the Lockyer Valley. Let’s all work together to continue to improve in everything we do.
