Lockyer Dominates Local Show

Cattle Team Strut Their Stuff

The LDHS Cattle Show Team certainly finished the show season with a bang!

The Gatton Show was the last show for most of the team (several members are showing at the RNA show) and they performed spectacularly.

Hero received 1st in his class and went on to win ‘Junior Champion Bull’.  In his class, Fudge won 1st and also got ‘Reserve Champion Senior Bull’. Honour was 1st in her class, with Hiccup coming a close 2nd.  Gritty did well, coming 1st in her class and going forward to win ‘Junior Champion Female’ then ‘Grand Champion Lowline Female’.  In the same class as Gritty, Gaga received 2nd.  In her class, Fantasia won her first ribbon for the year, also coming 2nd.

At the Show, the team also participated in Junior Handling and Junior Judging.  Junior Handling is a class where the handler is judged on how they control the cow.  It is also judged on the presentation of the handler and whether or not they are smiling and looking at the judge.  Whereas, Junior Judging is when there are four beasts presented and the participants have to judge them and place them.  Some of the participants that placed correctly then present their reasoning over the loudspeaker.

The Cattle Team will be back next year, hopefully once again taking out the top prize at the local shows!
