​NOMINATION: Lockyer District High School’s School Council: Parent Representative

The attached form (click here) serves as a nomination to stand as a Parent Representative on the LDHS School Council for 2 years beginning in term 4, 2017. The LDHS School Council will meet four (4) times per year (once per term) at times determined by the Council.


The Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (Qld) provides for the establishment and operation of school councils for state schools with the object of improving student learning outcomes.

The school council has the following functions for guiding the broad strategic direction of the school:

a) monitoring the school's strategic direction;

b) approving plans and policies of the school of a strategic nature and other documents affecting strategic matters, including the annual estimate of revenue and expenditure for the school;

c) monitoring the implementation of the plans, policies and other documents mentioned above; and

(d) advising the school's principal about strategic matters.

Elected parent members: To be eligible for election as an elected parent member, a person must:

1. not have been convicted of an indictable offence, unless the minister gives approval under the Act;

2. be the parent of a child attending the school; and

3. submit a nomination in accordance with the election procedures

 A person is eligible to vote for an elected parent member if that person is eligible to be elected as an elected parent member. 


Voting procedure

1. Nominations for Parent Representative on LDHS School Council must be received by 3.30pm, 9 August 2017

(a) Nominations can be submitted to the LDHS front office in person, using the nomination form, or

(b) Nominations can be submitted electronically by attaching the nomination form to an email and sending to

2. An information sheet will be created with relevant information on each candidate, taken from the nomination form, to inform voters on each candidate.

3. Voting must be in person. Voting will take place 23 August 2017 at Lockyer District High School. Voting is open to all parents/carers of Lockyer District High School. Voting will open 5.30pm and close 9pm 23 August 2017.
