LDHS Athletics Carnival

On Wednesday the 31st of July, the school held its annual sports carnival. It was a wonderful day, with both students and teachers enjoying themselves and the healthy competition.

The weather, as promised by Mr Skinner, was perfect for a sports carnival; not a cloud in sight. The day kicked off with the 100m sprints finals, where the top 16 from each year level competed. Throughout the day there were many other track and field events held for students to compete in. Novelty events were also held for those who wanted to participate and contribute to their team in a less competitive environment. Tug of War and sack races were some of the highlights of the novelty events.

Despite every team’s hard work, only one team could win. This year Kenny won on a score of  2274, Manning came in second by only 58 points on 2216, Griffith came in third on a score of  2049, and, last but not least, Cunningham on a score of 1943.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and put in their all. A huge thank you goes out to the P.E. department and the house captains for organising the day, as well as to the people who were working at the fundraising stalls.
