Community Digs Deep for Charity

In August this year, Lockyer students participated in the state-wide 40 Hour Famine.  As well as Lockyer, Faith Lutheran College and Laidley High School also participated in the Lockyer Valley Region fundraiser, raising a total of $11,500 between them.  On their own, Lockyer High students raised $2,315.80, a great feat for the school, with all funds raised go to starving children in Malawi.

Next year, the school wishes to double the funds raised this year, headed by two Year 11 and two Year 10 leaders who raised the most funds this 40 Hour Famine.  The leaders will attend a conference in Brisbane and act as the head organisers throughout the fundraising activities.

As well as participating in the annual 40 Hour Famine, LDHS also sponsors a young African boy.  The school holds a birthday party for him each year, raising money through birthday cake sales.

We both look forward to being a part of this exciting and fulfilling event next year.  We hope you'll join us in raising funds for this vital cause.
