LDHS Cattle Team News - Sep 2016


During the September school holidays, five Cattle Show Team students attended the Queensland Youth Limousin Camp at Pittsworth.  The camp was hosted by the Limousin Cattle Association and open to people from 4 to 25 years of age.  There were 110 participants from NSW and QLD.


The students participated in activities linked to preparing and show cattle- clipping, tattooing, hoof trimming, artificial insemination, pregnancy testing, semen testing and collection, temperament scoring, handling and washing/prepping.


At the end of the camp, the students put what they learnt into practice, with different competitions.  Brooke Pieper (Year 11) won the Junior Judging in her class (16yo &over) and went on to take out GRAND CHAMPION Junior Judge while Kiera Pasco (Year 11) got 2nd in the Herdsperson Award (out of 110) and 4th in her Junior Judging class.   Tamara Gardiner also achieved highly in the 16 & over Junior Judging class, being awarded 3rd place.  Danielle and Ben Hunter also represented the school well.
