April 2013 Bar Course

The year is off and running at full steam already.  Despite the first dates having to be cancelled due to flooding in February we rescheduled the Bar course to the first week Term 2.  Sixteen students from the Certificate II Hospitality classes have just completed the bar course successfully enabling them to prepare and serve alcoholic drinks.  This is of benefit for their Restaurant and function work as well as some students gaining employment in local Hospitality establishments.  The training and assessment was with Stuart Dawe from Smart Skills held at the Gatton Bowls Club.  The students’ assessment included a practical function on the Thursday night to demonstrate their skills in the bar, using the cash register and applying their knowledge from their Responsible Service of Alcohol.  Feedback from functions guests were extremely supportive and helpful to the students learning and improvement process.  Thank you to all parents, staff for supporting the function and the Gatton Bowls Club for hosting the week and letting us use the facilities for the benefit of the students.
